Udhampur, Jun 16 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), have been given a free hand to wipe out terrorism from the Union Territory. Speaking at the Passing-out Parade of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) and Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), here, LG Sinha, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Our police force has been empowered to strike at the heart of terror and the eco-system that sustains it. I expect the J&K Police, Indian Army, and CAPFs to eliminate terrorism at the earliest.” He said that Operation Sindoor has drawn new red lines against terrorism. “Any act of terror on our soil will be considered an act of war—and India will respond accordingly,” the LG warned. He called upon the police to expedite targeted operations against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and others providing logistical and moral support to terrorists. “Such elements must be shown their right place,” he said. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks during the inauguration of the Kashmir rail link, LG Sinha said, “PM Modi rightly acknowledged that the people of Jammu and Kashmir after the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack gave a befitting reply to terrorism. It is now time to finish the remaining elements with resolve and precision.” “Your sacred duty is to serve Maa Bharati. From today, your foremost responsibility is to uphold the rule of law and ensure the complete eradication of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG told the pass outs. He highlighted that the new officers have been trained in cybercrime investigations, modern policing techniques, and Army-style tactical operations, equipping them to face the changing dimensions of internal security. “We now have B.Tech professionals joining the force, and three new criminal laws coming into force—these must be adopted and enforced effectively,” he said. Stressing the importance of intelligence-driven policing, LG Sinha said, “A constable must have complete knowledge of his area. For J&K Police, human intelligence has become the most potent weapon. Community engagement is key, and our intelligence collection must become sharper and more localized.” “Despite remarkable changes in technology, there is no alternative to beat policing and area policing. Therefore, we have to bring beat policing to the centre of the security apparatus. We must strike a fine balance between Techint and Humint to strengthen overall counter-terrorism efforts,” the Lieutenant Governor said. Paying tribute to the martyrs of J&K Police, LG Sinha said, “I salute the brave hearts who laid down their lives fighting terrorists. The entire nation admires and respects the J&K Police for their unmatched professionalism and courage in handling complex security challenges.” He emphasized the need for a multi-pronged approach combining intelligence, technology, community support, and inter-agency coordination. “Our ancient values are rooted in truth, justice, and good governance. It is the duty of our police to uphold these principles while ensuring peace, development, and stability in the region,” he said. Congratulating the pass outs, LG Sinha said, “For thousands of years, an important part of our society, a group of warriors have been making supreme sacrifices to establish the victory of dharma over adharma. Those warriors have creative power of Lord Brahma, the nurturing power of Lord Vishnu and the absolute power of Lord Shiva. The same invincible power is being imparted to new probationer DySsP and Sub-Inspectors at the Parade.” “Entire nation looks at our police force with admiration and respect for professional competence, for successful handling of security challenges on multiple fronts and ruthlessly combating terrorism, " the Lieutenant Governor said. “The brave personnel must protect the whole society in every possible way to ensure peace, development and stability,” he said, adding, “Our ancient values focus on- truth, justice, morality, law and good governance- and these values need to be protected and nurtured in the society by J&K Police.” The Lieutenant Governor called upon J&K Police Force to utilise the modern technology like Artificial Intelligence to enhance its capability of data collection and analysis to counter security threats, prevent radicalisation and triumph over adverse situations. “Our mighty warriors of J&K Police must adopt a multi-pronged approach,” he added. The Lieutenant Governor further asked the police personnel to focus on fostering collective vigilance in the communities. He said this collective vigilance will not only enable the police force to ensure a coordinated response against terrorists but will also strengthen the trust with all sections of society. He emphasised on intelligence-driven anti-terror operations. The Lieutenant Governor also extended his felicitations to all the trainers and officials of Police Academy Udhampur and the family members of the passing out DySsP and PSIs. Garib Dass, Director, Udhampur Police Academy briefed about the program and various activities conducted during the Training course. The training program equipped recruits with high proficiency in New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence, cybercrime, narc-terrorism, general warfare, field craft and tactics, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, human rights, and law & order. The Lieutenant Governor took the ceremonial Salute and inspected the parade. He also felicitated the new recruits who excelled during their training—(KNO)
